The Kingston-North Kitsap Rotary Club is a non-profit service club focused on community service and engagement in the North Kitsap area. Over the years, the club has surveyed members of the Kingston and greater North Kitsap communities to identify the most pressing needs and focused their efforts on filling those needs. Examples include trail markers in the Heritage Park, lights at the Kingston High School track and field, an improved library and community center (Village Green Community Center, Park & Picnic Pavilion), and a way to better communicate on-going information (electronic reader board).
Over the past few years, it has come to their attention that there is a lack of necessary sports and recreation facilities available for the youth in North Kitsap. A project to fulfil this need was officially announced at their February 2023 fundraising auction and immediately gained significant community support. Soon afterwards, they were made aware of the opportunity to work on a larger vision in collaboration with Raydient and YMCA that has the potential to better fill these sports and recreation needs.
Rotary’s role in this vision is focusing on the creation of a multi-generational, multi-use sports and recreation complex that fulfils the community’s need and complements existing facilities in North Kitsap. The vision is for this complex to consist of indoor and outdoor facilities that provide a wide range of sports and recreation opportunities for all ages. The Kingston-North Kitsap Rotary Club plans on leading the fundraising efforts, raising awareness, and facilitating partnerships for this sports and recreation complex on behalf of the North Kitsap community.
